Colorado’s beloved winter attraction, Ice Castles, has finally announced a comeback after two years of not operating. The 2023-2024 season for the stunning location officially opens this evening, December 19^th, at 4 p.m. Even though they were not open the last two years, before this break, the Ice Castles would typically open in early January due to weather conditions. However, it has been cold enough in Teller County to allow the attraction to open just before Christmas. The CEO of Ice Castles, Kyle Standifird, said, “Mother Nature has been good to us this season, and we’re excited to welcome guests to Ice Castles over the holiday break.”

This is the attraction’s first year in Cripple Creek.

The Ice Castle’s attraction is a wintertime classic activity in which approximately 20 artisans of ice sculpting create pieces of art and activities all out of ice. They build and design ice slides, caverns, archways, fountains, and crawl tunnels. There are also intricate ice sculptures that are hand carved and excellent sights to see this time of the year.

While they are set to open tonight, they will be closed for the actual holidays, closing down on December 24^th and 25^th. To combat these closures and with the anticipation of mass crowd turn out, during the classic two-week Christmas break, aside from the actual holidays, the park will have extended hours to allow plenty of guests to visit.

Tickets are already available online and selling out fast so book soon!

The cost of the tickets vary based on age, starting at $22 for kids four to eleven and ending at $27 for ages twelve and up. However, they also offer a private event package known as the Arctic Alcove.

The city of Cripple Creek, where the event is this year,  is working hard to ensure they are properly equipped for the crowd turn outs they are expecting. There is a large new hotel with a 300 room capacity. The hotel offers a casino as well and both are expected to open within the next week or so. The hotel is the Chamonix Casino and Hotel.
