COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — There is no information if a cyclist killed Monday evening was in a crosswalk when she was hit, according to the Police. Police will continue to investigate the motorcycle crash for the foreseeable future.
The deadly crash took place around 5:30 p.m. on South Nevada near the southbound I-25 on-ramp. Apparently, the victim was walking her motorcycle when she was hit by a car. She later died from her injuries.
“It appears as though that the individual was close to the sidewalk,” said Lt. Howard Black with the Colorado Springs Police Department. “Whether she was walking her bike or driving it through the crosswalk has still been undetermined.”
Many Questions Remain About Motorcycle Crash
Also undetermined is how fast the driver of the car was going or any other factors contributing to the crash, Black told the local news. The driver did remain on the scene afterward and was cooperating with the investigation. Therefore, this isn’t a hit-and-run case where one person is clearly the bad guy. This is more of an unfortunate tragedy caused by a variety of factors.
Thankfully, there are many people who can help clear up what happened. “Obviously, at that time of day, we have numerous witnesses. Those individuals are being interviewed,” Black said. Indeed, it makes complete sense that more people would be around to see something that happens during rush hour.
Nothing is released from the names of the victim and the driver. It’s unlikely that they will be for the time being. After all, police don’t want to compromise their investigation!
