COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – Police officers are continuing their search for a Colorado Springs shooting suspect. Specifically, the incident occurred on Monday night.

The Colorado Springs Police Department reports that a man shot a 44-year-old woman. Additionally, officials are not identifying the victim.

Police report that the incident happened around 11:45 p.m. on Monday evening. Moreover, authorities responded to a call at a residence located south of Valley Hi Golf Course. Specifically, the location was near Fountain Boulevard and Circle Drive. The call indicated a shooting had taken place.

Police officers arrived at the scene and found the woman had a gunshot wound. This happened after a domestic disturbance with a man.

Fortunately, medical officials transported the woman to a nearby hospital. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators quickly identified the suspect as Jason Flores, who fled the scene before police arrived.

Police officers issued a warrant for Flores. The warrant is for felony related domestic violence charges.

Officials and investigators are still actively examining the case. Officials have not released any further details at this time.

Colorado as a whole is still reeling from multiple shooting incidents, most recently at STEM School Highlands Ranch. Colorado Springs is located about one hour south of STEM. This is also the state where the infamous Columbine shooting occurred.

However, anyone who may have helpful information is encouraged to contact the Colorado Springs Police Department as soon as possible. Officials who deal with domestic violence cases say it’s easier to take action when the suspect is in custody.
